"POWER IS SAFEST IN A POET'S HANDS, THUS FOR THE ARTIST GOD WILL POSE" - Hafiz

BIO:
Jennifer was born on the north shore of Long Island, N.Y., to a large, colorful and dynamic family. She found art young, beginning to draw at the age of 3 with more passion than most and has had a life long interest in oil, charcoal, acrylic and collage ever since. Acting and writing grabbed her attention in high school and music and directing in college. With several scholarships to fine art programs and invitations to study at performing art conservatories, including Tisch School of the Arts where she attended college on a full acting scholarship, Jennifer rooted herself in firm techniques and discipline and a broad base of artistic and cultural knowledge that has laid a strong foundation from which to spring into experimentation, exploration and creation. She toured Europe with Leonard Bernstein and Fredericka Von Stade in high school and explored Paris on her own in her early twenties, staying in convents or wherever she could afford in order to take in the language, the cafe's, the bridges and rivers and, of course, the art. New York City became her consistent artistic laboratory, providing east village hot spots for her music, as well as Circle in the Square, The Experimental Theater Wing, the theater district, television and film for her acting, directing & producing and all 5 burroughs for her living, painting and writing. Dancing has always been her favorite past time, competing only with horse back riding, the beach and lounging with her dogs. Jennifer embraces being an artist but has also learned to place more value on being the best person she can be before any feat she can achieve or anything she can create. She values family and friendships above everything else and is grateful beyond her wildest dreams. She hopes her artistic creations can add value to a beautiful world that sometimes goes by without us noticing. She wishes to grab your attention for just a moment and celebrate what it means to be...alive.

YOUR MOTHER AND MY MOTHER

By Hafiz

Fear is the cheapest room in the house,
I would like to see you living
In better conditions,

For your mother and my mother
Were friends.

I know the Innkeeper
In this part of the universe.
Get some rest tonight,
Come to my verse again tomorrow.
We’ll go speak to the Friend together.

I should not make any promises right now,
But I know if you
Pray
Somewhere in this world-
Something good will happen.

God wants to see
More love and playfulness in your eyes
For this is your greatest witness to Him.

Your soul and my soul
Once sat together in the Beloved’s womb
Playing footsie.

Your heart and my heart
Are very, very old
Friends.
THE TIME BEFORE DEATH

B
y Kabir

Friend, hope for the Guest while you are alive.
Jump into experience while you are alive!
Think…and think…while you are alive.
What you call “salvation” belongs to the time
before death.

If you don’t break your ropes while you’re alive,
Do you think
Ghosts will do it after?

The idea that the soul will rejoin with the ecstatic
Just because the body is rotten-
That is all fantasy.
What is found now is found then.
If you find nothing now,
You will simply end up with an apartment in the
City of Death.
